Visa for Study
The type of visa depends on the duration of the course and also on how long a student wants to stay in New Zealand.
Here is the list of different types of Visa offered to the students in New Zealand:
  1. Fee Paying Visa
A student wanting to study long-term courses will need to apply for fee-paying student visa. A student holding Fee Paying Student Visa is allowed to stay in New Zealand for 4 years and at the same time the student is also allowed to work while studying in New Zealand.

Students are allowed to work 40 hours per week during the semester.

2. Pathway Student Visa
A student is allowed to study in New Zealand for 5 years, if he/she is a holder of Pathway Student Visa. Also, a student is allowed to study maximum 3 courses consecutively and work while studying.

3. Foreign Student Visa
If a student is sponsored by any foreign government then he/she is allowed to study a full-time course in New Zealand for 4 years.

After completing graduation in New Zealand
  1. Post Study Work Visa
A student can apply for a work visa after completing graduation in New Zealand. A student is eligible to apply 3 months prior to the visa expiration date.
A student needs to have at least $ 4,200 to fulfil basic needs while living in the country and is only allowed to stay for 12 months.
If students find a job matching their qualifications then they can apply for Post Study Student Visa and are allowed to stay in the country for 2 more years.

2. Skilled Migrant Resident Visa
If a student holding some special skills that can be contributed to grow the economy of New Zealand can apply for this Visa type and obtain a PR card (Permanent Resident).
The person should not be older than 55 years and could include family members in the application form for permanent residence.

The applicants who attain this visa are also allowed to study in the country.
